Safety, Dependability and Regulatory Expertise
For manufacturers in the global pharmaceutical market, rapid growth brings both opportunities and challenges alike. Low-priced generic drugs create intense competition, with consequent pressure on production costs. Drugs must overcome threats from counterfeiting. And the ever-changing regulatory landscape requires an experienced partner to help guide you to innovation, compliance and profitability.
Avery Dennison has the resources, the commitment to investment and the stable of pharmaceutical products needed to meet compliance standards and improve operational efficiency. We provide converters with the support needed to create blood bag labels, secure/track label products, drug-delivery device labels, functional labeling components and more. We are one of very few suppliers able to offer all adhesive technologies including hot melt, solvent and emulsion. Plus, we have the global reach necessary to consult, specify and supply compliant label materials wherever production happens to be.
Our Products Include:
Dedicated Pharmaceutical Range
Products designed specifically for medical applications must be consistent. You need to be sure that any product you choose will be available in the future. Long notification times for any changes to terms of supply or specifications are an essential requirement, so that contracts can continue uninterrupted.
Performance requirements are demanding. Dedicated medical products may need excellent mandrel performance, an ability to cope with a particular substrate, or low-migration characteristics.

Low Migration
Fasson® S692NP adhesive performs well in applications with a high migration risk, such as fluid-filled linear low density polyethylene (LDPE) containers. It is a clear, permanent adhesive that adheres well to many tightly curved substrates including glass, polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP). UV resistance and weatherability is also excellent.
Blood and Plasma Bag Labels
Enhanced product security and traceability are integral to mitigating risks from intravenous treatments and transfusions. We can supply primary labels and secondary labels engineered to meet the most demanding criteria.

Hanging Labels
It is increasingly common to use self-adhesive laminate for hanging labels. Combining label strength and tear resistance with high shear adhesives allows the weight of either glass or plastic bottles to be firmly supported. Avery Dennison offers tear-resistant films combined with high shear adhesives. These adhesives meet compliance requirements for good water resistance, sterilization and stability.

Cryogenic
Cryogenic labels must withstand extreme deep-freezing temperatures. Fasson label products are specifically designed to sustain the flexibility and adherence required when using liquid nitrogen during the cryogenic process. These products withstand cryogenic temperatures of -196°C to +90°C, and perform in the demanding conditions of dry ice, steam autoclave and gamma radiation. In addition, they are resistant to chemicals commonly found in clinical environments, including Xylene, Isopropanol, Dimethyl Sulfoxide and 10% Hydrochloric Acid.
Syringes
Pre-filled syringes are convenient, accurate and cost-effective, offering precise doses and no over-fill. Our label products ensure that all required information is visibly in place. Wide range of Fasson® luminescent adhesives and PP films allow transparent film labels to be seen easily under UV-light detection equipment and also resist autoclaving, gamma radiation and ethylene oxid sterilization.

Opaque Labels
Labels can effectively remediate small mistakes on packaging, and they also allow cost-effective packaging in different languages. Our pharmaceutical product range includes opaque overlabeling options. The opacity of this label prevents interference from underlying barcodes and may be combined with facestocks and adhesives specifically engineered to maintain integrity and sterility in medical environments.
