Automotive label materials

car battery label

In the automotive segment, labels have to cope with a range of challenges – harsh chemical environments, challenging substrates and extreme environmental conditions arise during vehicle use and maintenance. The Avery Dennison Automotive Labelling Solutions portfolio contains materials that perform under the most extreme conditions, meeting the needs of almost all supply chain processes and industry regulations.

Car label materials for all applications

A wide selection of high performance automotive label materials is available for vehicle exteriors, interiors and engine compartments.

  • Exterior applications including fuel cap instructions; tyre pressure labels; and tracking and service labels
  • Interior applications including labels for airbag warnings; security and anti-counterfeit labels; and warning/instruction/tracking labels on electronic components and interior car parts
  • Under-the-hood applications including heat and chemical resistant warning/instruction labels in engine components; labels on fluid containers; car battery labels; and cable labels

Our vehicle label materials cope with engine compartment conditions, where temperature extremes and exposure to liquids such as brake fluid, engine oil and screen wash can compromise printed information, adhesives or both.

Automotive label materials that comply with industry standards

To meet the stringent specifications of automotive OEMs and tier suppliers, a global product portfolio of high quality label materials is available.  Lead times are minimised with pre-qualified materials compliant with REACH, RoHS, IMDS and specifications issued by automotive OEMs.

Our pressure sensitive adhesives are suitable for very demanding automotive applications, and address a full range of substrates used in the automotive segment:

  • The AL170 adhesive offers excellent resistance to heat, UV light and harsh chemicals. It is mainly used for applications on metal
  • For applications on paints and plastics the tackified acrylic adhesive S8015 features a good balance of performance in terms of peel adhesion and resistance properties
  • The rubber hybridised acrylic adhesive S8049 is ideal for difficult-to-label substrates including rough or low surface energy plastics
  • Labelling airbag fabrics and silicone contaminated parts can be achieved using Avery Dennison's silicone adhesive S8092

More options, more service

Avery Dennison’s automotive label materials are equipped with topcoats that provide excellent chemical resistance, so your customers will benefit from durable, legible labels throughout the lifecycle of their vehicle.

Service is designed for flexibility, with Fasson® EXACT™, Fasson® Ready Width™ service options and reduced minimum order quantities. For many products within our automotive label material range the minimum order quantity is as low as 100 m².
