New materials for the ThinkThin range

ThinkThin key benefits

Brands are making ever stronger demands for waste reductions and sustainable products, and the Avery Dennison ThinkThin portfolio has proved to be an important way for label converters to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability in concrete terms by using the Avery Dennison Greenprint charts.

With demand strong, 2013 sees further additions to the ThinkThin range, bringing some important new products.

The new products:

All ThinkThin products feature thinner-than-standard facestocks, with a lighter 50 g/m2 glassine liner.

The existing ThinkThin films are joined by a few new materials:

  • PP 40 White and PP 40 Clear offers excellent high speed conversion, along with great opacity/clarity and water-whitening resistance.

MC70 is now suitable for virtually any substrates, in food applications and well beyond. Two new papers join the ThinkThin range, with the entire range now FSC certified and 10g/m2 lighter than Fasson® MC Primecoat:

  • MC70 FSC / S2000N / BG30BR FSC is an excellent choice for high speed room temperature applications.
  • MC70 FSC / S2060N / BG30BR FSC copes with more demanding substrates and applications.

Note that existing ThinkThin papers also offer S2020N adhesive for chilled, flat surfaces and S2045N for general cool room applications.

Thermal Thin 200LD is now available with S2000N permanent emulsion adhesive, allowing higher speed application. This material has excellent mandrel performance and a direct thermal printing speed up to 250mm/s. It is well suited to dry weigh scale applications and to pre-printing using water based flexo.

The existing Thermal Thin 200LL is an excellent option for logistics applications requiring hand-held printers.
Both products are also offered with S2045N adhesive, which is quite effective in cardboard substrates applications, due to its higher adhesion and tack.

The ThinkThin philosophy

Many environmental and production benefits arise from thinner materials. The Avery Dennison ThinkThin portfolio enables  more efficient transport and storage, thanks to reels that yield more labels for a given weight and size. An optimal price performance ratio is possible across a wide range of facestocks, and matrix/liner waste levels are substantially reduced. Crucially, all of this is achieved without compromising label quality. ThinkThin products allow you to retain the high visual impact on the shelf that you are used to with standard products.
